Q: Can a customer refuse SMS?

Yes. On the customer’s card in the panel you tick Do not send SMS to this customer. From then on no SMS goes to that number, whichever record it comes from, and nothing is charged. SoftSMS sends only the transactional messages you switch on; there are no campaigns and no marketing lists.

What is SoftSMS?

SoftSMS is Softphia’s own SMS service for the messages your business sends to its customers: appointment reminders, order-ready notices, work-order and maintenance messages. You buy credit in Swiss francs by card, choose the sender name your customers see, and Softphia sends the messages you switch on. You need no contract with an SMS provider and no API keys.

SoftSMS needs the SMS add-on in your subscription. Instead of SoftSMS you can also use your own account at BulkGate, Infobip or Twilio.

What does an SMS cost with SoftSMS?

SoftSMS is charged per SMS segment: CHF 0.065 to Swiss numbers and CHF 0.09 to numbers in other countries, from the SoftSMS price book. A short message in Latin letters is one segment; a long message or one with special characters uses more, and the panel shows the count before you save a template.

You top up CHF 20, 50 or 100 by card. The balance and every message with its status are shown in the panel. A message that is not delivered is settled according to the network’s report.

Which sender name do my customers see?

A sender name of 3 to 11 characters that you choose, for example your shop’s name. A name that matches your business name is approved at once; other names are reviewed by Softphia first, so nobody can send in someone else’s name. Customers cannot reply to a sender name.
